Holding a 2nd Degree Black Belt under the tutelage of Nick Brooks, Ed has left his mark on the grappling world as a Polaris and Grapplefest veteran, as well as a Polaris Referee. With a remarkable competition record, including multiple IBJJF European medals in both gi and no-gi divisions, a World Catch Wrestling Silver medal, and gold medals at the British & English Open, Ed’s expertise in the sport is undeniable. Boasting an impressive 129 submissions in competition, with an astounding 50 submissions from 52 wins since achieving his black belt, Ed’s technical prowess is matched only by his strategic mindset.

Beyond his achievements on the mat, Ed holds academic credentials in Psychology (BSc) and Cognitive Neuroscience (MSc), and is a member of the British Psychological Society. Transitioning to coaching in 2014 and full-time since 2018, Ed retired from competing in 2022 to focus entirely on nurturing and developing emerging talents in the sport. He is deeply committed to coach development and shares his knowledge through coaching courses across the UK, as well as providing consultation services to coaches worldwide.

Besides coaching in MMA dojo Ed runs the institute of grappling which is one of the best grappling clubs in London and we are very happy to be able to collaborate and exchange with them.
